Le Cadre Noir présente
Although knowing each other for many years, it is the first time that Pascale Basset (painter) and Jean-Claude Jolet (sculpture) are showing their work together in an exhibition. Pascale Basset, who studied at the Beaux Arts Appliqués in Toulouse, graduated with disctinctions in 1986. In 1994, at the "Grand Prix de Hyères", she obtains the second prize in the paintings category. In 1999, she obtained the special prize for sculpture, at the "Carrefour des Arts of Chamalières". Her first exhibition took place in the Gallery de la Porte d'Italie in Toulon, where she presented her paintings and scultpures.
He works on polystyren, then makes a mould with sand, and finishes using aluminium in fusion. The last step actually destroying the mould, this technique does not allows several copies of the same piece. He then works on the finish using complex mixes of acid which gives a rather distinctive look to his work, much different from the more classic aluminium work. Involved in sculpture for several years, he his dedicated to this work full-time since 1995. His work was shown at several exhibitions, including "Auto Portrait" at the Reunion Artothèque, and Kabar Sida in 1997. The complicity of these two artists makes this exhibition at the gallery Mizou perceived by visitor as a complete symbiosis.
